Synopsis: "It Takes Movement to Create Change" is a social-art piece created by co-directors Lindsey Blaufarb and Q Burdette. The short was inspired by the recent tragedies of Michael Brown in Missouri, Eric Garner in New York City, and Oscar Grant in Oakland. These types of injustices happen year after year, and people of color – primarily black and Latino – are usually the victims.

The film is a call to action created to inspire and encourage today's youth to find a positive outlet to express their pain, empathy and frustration processing the tragic cultural events shaping the world around them.

Set to the sound of Flying Lotus, "It Takes Movement to Create Change” was remixed by music editor Jack Rayner. He juxtaposed historical speeches from President Barrack Obama, Hilary Clinton, and Martin Luther King Jr., creating an impactful, yet highly danceable mashup of sound.

Blaufarb, one of Hollywood’s leading choreographers, brought together a who’s who of todays dance community, including Ray Charm Jr., Duece, Hob.dot and Nicholas "Slick" Stewart whose credits include worldwide projects with MadonnaChris Brown,Taylor Swift, and Nikki Minaj.  Blaufarb says, “Art gives us another lane to evoke emotion, lead social discussion, connect and create awareness. We hope to encourage people to continue to be the change they wish to see and take positive action through what ever means they have."

The co-directors shared a vision with cinematographer Jose Hernandez, creating a masterful palette of imagery that hits all the right moves socially, politically, and emotionally. The team hopes to remind people that art can save lives, raise awareness, and crusade for equal rights when given a voice.

Lindsey Blaufarb is a Grammy nominated choreographer and creative director based in Los Angeles whose resume includes Ricky MartinChromeoMiley CyrusThe Voice, and America’s Best Dance Crew.

Q Burdette is a director and editor who got his start in the dance industry and now directs short films and creative projects. His work can be viewed at vimeo.com/qburdette
